1. Assess

The first step of the Equipment Pilates process is to assess your posture, muscle balance, core stability, joint mobility and any motor control issues.

It is important to get a baseline understanding of your body's needs so we may form a personalised plan for optimal movement for your body.

2. Intro to Equipment

The second step is a practical introduction to equipment based Pilates using The Well's Allegro 2 Reformers, Pilates Ladder Barrel, Pilates Tower, and Pilates Chair.

You will enjoy significant improvement in your flexibility, total-body strength, core stability, endurance, and mind-body connection.

3. Tailored Program

Your program will be tailored to your health needs and fitness goals by your chosen trainer. Improve your posture, body alignment and balance under the expert guidance.

Equipment Pilates

Personalised Equipment-based Pilates Training Sessions

Reformer Pilates

Reformer Pilates is done using the Allegro 2 Pilates reformer machine and is generally more dynamic than mat based Pilates as it adds resistance and consistency of range to the Pilates exercises via the use of the springs which form part of the machine.

Reformer Pilates is great for rehab purposes as it allows exercise in a horizontal plane of motion without vertical loading.

Sign up for a Private Equipment Pilates Session to learn how to use the equipment and form a personal strengthening plan. Combine this with a Gym Membership so you have access to the Pilates equipment to implement your plan.

Pilates Chair & Ladder Barrel

The Pilates Chair is designed to stretch and strengthen muscle groups not easily reached by more traditional techniques and equipment.

The Combo Chair from Balanced Body evolved from Joseph Pilates’ original Wunda Chair. The addition of a padded split pedal allows exercises that use rotational and reciprocal movement of the extremities. Each pedal has 2 springs (one light and one heavy), which enable the Combo Chair to offer the widest range of resistance on the market – up to 110 lbs. (50kg) of resistance.

If your assessment shows that the Pilates Chair would be useful for your program, then we'll use this equipment at The Well along with the Allegro 2 Reformer, Pilates tower, and Pilates Ladder Barrel.

Mat Pilates

The Well offers mat based Pilates classes as an option for Small Group Training. Classes are small (maximum 12 participants), welcoming, and open to all ages. The primary focus is on strengthening and re-engaging your core (abdominals, lower back, pelvic floor, hips and glutes).

We run Movement Therapy for absolute beginners, then Level 1 Mat Pilates classes for Pilates beginners and those who are unsure which group to join, and Level 2 Mat Pilates for those who are comfortable with Pilates and want a higher level class.
